Shout Sister Shout is a celebration of the extraordinary and courageous life of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the Godmother of Rock & Roll. The show is based on Gayle Wald’s biography SHOUT, SISTER, SHOUT! and features an all-star cast who bring to life the music and legacy of this pioneering musician. From her humble beginnings as a gospel singer in the 1930s to her rise to fame as one of the most influential performers in 20th-century music, Sister Rosetta has been credited with inspiring generations of musicians with her unique blend of gospel, blues, and jazz. The show first premiered at London’s National Theatre in 2019 and was met with critical acclaim. Since then, it has toured throughout Europe and North America, playing to sold-out audiences everywhere it goes. The show features original songs from Sister Rosetta’s albums such as “Up Above My Head” and “Down By The Riverside” alongside covers of classic tunes such as “I Saw The Light” and “This Little Light Of Mine.”
