Sauti Sol is a Kenyan Afro-pop band that has been making waves in the music industry since its formation in 2005. The band consists of four members: Bien-Aime Baraza, Willis Chimano, Polycarp Otieno, and Savara Mudigi. Together they have released five albums, two EPs, and numerous singles that have earned them multiple awards and recognition worldwide. The group's debut album Mwanzo was released in 2008 to critical acclaim in Kenya and abroad. It featured hit songs like "Lazizi," "Kuliko Jana" and "Nishike." Their follow-up album, Sol Filosofia (2011) was equally successful with songs like "Coming Home," and "Kuliko Jana Remix" that topped the African charts for weeks. In 2013, Sauti Sol released their third studio album Live and Die in Afrika which went on to become the highest-selling album of all time in Kenya. It was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Kenya (RIAK). This album featured some of the most popular Sauti Sol songs such as "Sura Yako," "Nerea" and "Money Lover."
In 2015, Sauti Sol released their fourth studio album, Afrikan Sauce which won them multiple awards including Album of The Year at the 2016 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA). They also received three nominations at the 2017 Grammy Awards for Best World Music Album for Afrikan Sauce. In 2018 they dropped their fifth studio album titled Midnight Train which included hits such as “Short n Sweet” featuring Nyashinski, “Melanin” featuring Patoranking & Tiwa Savage & “Suzanna” featuring Bebe Cool & Phyno. Sauti Sol has also embarked on several tours throughout Africa and Europe over the years performing to sold-out crowds wherever they go!
