Pablo Cruise is a band that was created in San Francisco, California in 1973 with Cory Lerios (keyboards, vocals), David Jenkins (guitar, vocals), Steve Price (drums) from Stoneground and Bud Cockrell (bass, vocals) from the group It's a Beautiful Day. The band's name was suggested by Cockrell who wanted something that would evoke the feel of Latin American cruise ship vacations. The band's self-titled debut album Pablo Cruise was released in May 1975 on A&M Records and reached number 29 on the Billboard 200 chart. The first single "A Place in the Sun" peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and is the band's best-known song. It was followed by the singles "Love Will Find a Way" (number 48) and "World Calling" (number 84). All four of the original Pablo members played at Steve Price's wedding in June 2004. Three of the four—Jenkins, Lerios, and Price—decided to meet again permanently as a result. They were soon joined by San Francisco-based drummer, Raul Matute and later, bassist Gabe Katona. The band's first album in 25 years, A Place in the Sun, was released on June 28, 2005. The album peaked at number 18 on the Billboard Internet Album Sales chart. It included the singles "California Dreamin'" (number one on the Adult Contemporary chart) and "Love Will Find a Way" (number five on the Adult Contemporary chart). Pablo Cruise's tenth studio album, In Humanity, was released on May 4, 2010. The album peaked at number two on the Billboard Independent Albums chart and number four on the Billboard Internet Album Sales chart. The first single from the album, "It's Over Now", peaked at number seven on the Adult Contemporary chart. The band has continued to tour throughout the United States and Canada in support of their albums. They continue to perform their classic hits as well as new material.
