Jukebox the Ghost is an American three-piece power pop band formed in the Washington, D.C. metro area. The band consists of Ben Thornewill (piano, lead vocals), Tommy Siegel (guitar, bass, vocals), and Jesse Kristin (drums). The band has released five studio albums: Let Live & Let Ghosts (2007), Everything Under the Sun (2010), Safe Travels (2013), Jukebox the Ghost (2016), and Off to the Races (2019).
The band's musical style has been described as "energetic power pop" and "piano-driven rock." The band is known for their lively stage presence and energetic live shows. Jukebox the Ghost has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. The band has performed at festivals such as Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, and Firefly.
A significant turning point for the group occurred on September 1, 2010, when they made an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman. Jukebox the Ghost was a featured band on the Sixthman cruise, Ships & Dip 4, which Barenaked Ladies hosted in February 2011. They opened for Barenaked Ladies in the fall of 2010 from October through November. In September 2011, Jukebox The Ghost was also a featured band on the "Rombello" Sixthman Cruise. Shortly after, they went on tour with Guster. The band supported Motion City Soundtrack and Jack's Mannequin in 2012.
The band said on January 21, 2015, that Cherrytree Records, a leading pop alternative label, had signed them. A division of Interscope Records is Cherrytree Records. In February 2015, Jukebox the Ghost's self-titled album was once again made available through their new label. The band then swiftly performed "Postcard" on Conan's late-night program on January 26. They are no longer associated with Cherrytree Records as of January 2016.
The "Cheers" single was made available on September 8, 2021. After releasing the lead track and the album cover art on March 8, 2022, the band announced that the title of their upcoming album will be Cheers. The 2022 film Cheers premiered on May 27.
