J.R. Richards is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who has been making music since the 1990s. His career began in the late 90s with his band Dishwalla, which had a string of hits including "Counting Blue Cars," "Charlie Brown's Parents," and "Stay Awake." After the band's disbandment in 2002, J.R. went on to pursue a solo career as a singer-songwriter and has released six studio albums since then. He has also collaborated with other artists such as The Goo Goo Dolls and Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, among others. Throughout his career, J.R.'s music has earned him numerous awards including two Grammy nominations for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1997 for “Counting Blue Cars” and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1998 for “Stay Awake”. He also won Billboard Music Awards for Top Hot 100 Song and Top Modern Rock Track in 1997 for “Counting Blue Cars”, as well as two ASCAP Pop Awards for Most Performed Songs of the Year in 1996 and 1997 respectively for “Counting Blue Cars” and “Charlie Brown’s Parents".
