The Goo Goo Dolls, an American rock band formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York, have been entertaining fans for over three decades. With founding members John Rzeznik (guitar/vocals) and Robby Takac (bass/vocals), the band has released 12 studio albums and sold more than 10 million records worldwide. Their debut album, "Goo Goo Dolls," was released in 1987 and featured the hit single "Name." The song quickly became a fan favorite and propelled them to international stardom. The band's second album, "Jed," was released in 1989 and included the hit single "Iris" which went on to become one of the most successful singles of all time. It peaked at number one on multiple charts including Billboard Hot 100, Adult Pop Songs, Mainstream Top 40, and Modern Rock Tracks. The success of this single earned them two Grammy nominations for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Record of the Year. In 1995, the Goo Goo Dolls released their third album "A Boy Named Goo," which went platinum in the US.
They produced four top-ten hits including "Name," "Long Way Down," "Flat Top" and "Naked." This album also earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. In 1998 they released their fourth album titled “Dizzy Up The Girl” which featured some of their biggest hits such as “Slide”, “Black Balloon” and “Iris”. This record earned them four Grammy nominations including Album Of The Year as well as two MTV Music Video Awards for Best Group Video and Breakthrough Video. The band has since gone on to release eight more albums including 2011's Something For The Rest Of Us which featured songs like “Notbroken” and 2014's Magnetic which included songs like “Come To Me”. Most recently they have announced their upcoming 2024 tour where they will be performing all of their classic hits as well as some new material from their upcoming album “Rise & Shine” set to be released in 2021!
