Jonas Müller, a sound artist, formed Glass Beams in Berlin, Germany, in 2015. Using electronic textures, ambient guitar, and live looping, the band created a distinct experimental sound. Early EPs such as Shattered Lights (2016) demonstrated a basic yet dynamic style. Members trained in classical composition and electronic production, combining varied inspirations ranging from ambient pioneers to post-rock, paving the way for critically praised live performances.

Their first album, Refractions (2017), debuted in Germany's independent electronic charts. Glass Beams performed at several major festivals, including Melt! (2018) and Fusion Festival (2019).
