Ash Blue Gutierrez known professionally as Glaive, is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, and record producer. He is best known for his work with the electronic rock band Blue Stahli, as well as his solo career.
Glaive's musical style has been described as a mix of industrial, metal, and electronic music. He has cited Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, and Linkin Park as influences on his music.
Glaive was born in Detroit, Michigan, on May 5, 1983. He began playing guitar at the age of 13, and started his first band shortly thereafter. He attended Wayne State University, where he studied music theory and composition. After college, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music.
In 2005, Glaive formed the electronic rock band Blue Stahli with bassist and fellow Detroit native Jared Kolar. The band released their debut album, Antisleep Vol. 01, in 2007. The album was followed by a series of EPs: Singles & B-Sides (2008), Metamorphosis (2009), and The Devil (2010). Blue Stahli's second studio album, The Victorious Dead, was released in 2011.
In 2012, Glaive began releasing music under his own name, with the singles "Enemy" and "Back From the Dead". His debut EP, I Am Anonymous, was released in 2013. The following year, he released his second EP, Here Comes the Sun.
In 2015, Glaive released his third EP, War. The EP's lead single, "Give 'Em Hell", was used as the theme song for the video game Mortal Kombat X. Later that year, he released his debut album, Into the Black.
Glaive has also composed music for film and television. His credits include the films The Devil's Rejects (2005), Saw III (2006), and 30 Days of Night (2007). He has also composed music for the television series The Walking Dead (2010-2011) and American Horror Story (2011-2012).
