About COIN

COIN, stylized as COIN, was an American indie pop band formed in 2012 in Nashville, Tennessee. The original lineup consisted of Chase Lawrence (lead vocals, synthesizers), Joe Memmel (guitar, backing vocals), Zachary Dyke (bass guitar), and Ryan Winnen (drums, percussion). Lawrence and Memmel met at Belmont University, where they began collaborating on music projects, later bringing in Dyke and Winnen through mutual connections. The band quickly gained a local following with their energetic performances and catchy melodies. They released two EPs in their early years: "Saturdays" in late 2012 and "1992" in 2013. The single "Atlas" from the "1992" EP garnered attention and showcased their potential in the indie pop scene. In 2015, COIN released their self-titled debut album, produced by Jay Joyce, featuring the lead single "Run," which received positive reviews and significant airplay on alternative radio stations. Their second album, "How Will You Know If You Never Try," released in 2017, included the hit single "Talk Too Much," which marked their first appearance on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart. The band's third album, "Dreamland," came out in 2020, followed by "Uncanny Valley" in 2022. Their fifth and final studio album, "I'm Not Afraid of Music Anymore," was released on September 13, 2024. Throughout their career, COIN was known for their dynamic live performances and extensive touring. In 2015, they opened for artists like Neon Trees and Colony House, promoting their debut album. They continued to support bands such as The 1975, Bad Suns, and Saint Motel in 2016. Following the release of their second album, they embarked on the "How Will You Know If You Never Try" tour, playing 36 shows across the United States between 2017 and 2018. In October 2018, they extended this tour to the Philippines, performing three shows. The "Paradise of Thought" tour took place in early 2019, covering 13 venues, and later that year, they supported Young the Giant and Fitz and the Tantrums on a summer tour across 24 cities. Their "Album 3 Part 1" tour in late 2019 included 23 locations across the US and Canada. COIN also graced the stages of several festivals, including Lollapalooza, SandJam Festival, and Music Midtown. In 2022, they opened for 5 Seconds of Summer during the UK leg of the "Take My Hand World Tour." Their final tour, "I'm Not Afraid of Tour Anymore," was announced in June 2024, with the North American leg running from September 29 to November 9, 2024. However, the second leg, scheduled from February 8 to March 4, 2025, was canceled. COIN's discography is marked by a progression in their musical style, blending indie pop with elements of new wave and alternative rock. Their debut album, "COIN," introduced their upbeat sound with tracks like "Run" and "Time Machine." "How Will You Know If You Never Try" showcased their growth with songs such as "Talk Too Much" and "I Don't Wanna Dance." "Dreamland" featured singles like "Crash My Car" and "I Want It All," reflecting a more polished pop sensibility. The experimental "Rainbow Mixtape" project in 2021 led to the release of "Uncanny Valley" in 2022, which included the single "Chapstick." Their final album, "I'm Not Afraid of Music Anymore," was preceded by singles like "Strawberry Jam" and "Take It Or Leave It." Despite their active presence in the music scene, COIN did not receive major music awards during their career. Don’t miss out on this world tour! Buy COIN tickets now!
