Christina Aguilera was born in New York City on December 18, 1980, and raised in Rochester and Wexford, Pennsylvania. Her father is Ecuadorian, and her mother has Irish, Welsh, German, and Dutch ancestry. When she was four, her parents divorced and she was raised by her mother. Aguilera took a hiatus from music from late 2006 to early 2008, during which she married Jordan Bratman and gave birth to their son Max.
She resumed recording in 2009 with the release of her sixth album Bionic, which included the hit singles "Not Myself Tonight" and "You Lost Me". In 2012, Aguilera released her seventh album Lotus, which received mixed reviews from critics but still debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200.
