About Broods

Broods is a music group from Nelson, New Zealand, formed by Georgia Josiena Nott on lead vocals with older brother and multi-instrumentalist Caleb Allan Joseph Nott on production and backing vocals. Their self-titled debut EP was released in August 2013, followed by the singles "Bridges" and "Never Gonna Change". The duo's first full-length album, Evergreen, was released on 24 June 2014 and peaked at number two on the New Zealand charts. In January 2015 they supported Sam Smith on his Australian tour.

Caleb and Georgia Nott, both born in Nelson, New Zealand, have been performing together since they were children. They began by posting homemade songs on YouTube under the name "The Peasants", but later changed their name to "Broods" after receiving advice from manager Scott Maclachlan. In an interview with Clash, Georgia explained that the name was chosen because it represented "the two of us against the world kind of thing".

The duo's debut EP, Broods, was released on 25 August 2013 and peaked at number seven on the New Zealand album chart. The lead single, "Bridges", was released to radio on 22 July 2013 and became a top 40 hit in New Zealand. The second single, "Never Gonna Change", was released on 4 November 2013. In December 2013, Broods supported English singer Ellie Goulding on her Halcyon Days Tour of New Zealand.

The duo's debut album, Evergreen, was released on 24 June 2014 and peaked at number two on the New Zealand album chart. The first single from the album, "Bridges", was re-released on 9 May 2014 and peaked at number eight on the New Zealand singles chart. The second single, "Never Gonna Change", was released on 23 May 2014 and peaked at number 19 on the New Zealand singles chart. The third single, "Mother & Father", was released on 18 August 2014 and peaked at number 24 on the New Zealand singles chart.

In early 2015, Broods supported English singer Sam Smith on his Australian tour. The duo's song "Free" was featured in a commercial for Apple Inc.'s iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, which aired during the 2015 Emmy Awards.

In 2016, Broods collaborated with rapper Tove Lo on the song "Freak of Nature", which was included on Lo's album Lady Wood. The duo also collaborated with English electronic music duo AlunaGeorge on the song "Supernatural", which was included on AlunaGeorge's album I Remember.

In May 2017, Broods released the single "Heartlines" as the lead single from their forthcoming second studio album. The song peaked at number eight on the New Zealand singles chart. The second single, "Free", was released on 20 June 2017.

On 6 July 2018, Georgia Nott announced via Instagram that she would be releasing solo music under the name "GEORGIA". Her debut solo single, "Started Out", was released on 13 July 2018.
