Blossoms is an English pop band from Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. The group comprises lead vocalist and guitarist Charlie Simpson, bassist Dougie Poynter and drummer Harry Judd. They have predominantly been a three-piece band since 2005, when Simpson left the band for a short period of time.
Simpson announced his return to the band in November 2005, with their first reunion performance taking place on 28 February 2006 at the London Astoria. Poynter and Judd continued to record new material with producer Youth, which was released as the album Motion in the Ocean in October 2006.
The band's second studio album, Out of My Head, was released on 6 August 2007 and entered the UK Albums Chart at number one. It spawned four singles, including the number-one singles "The Way You Make Me Feel" and "Can't Take It In". Their third album,heavyweight, was released on 11 November 2011. The album's first single, "Invisible Sun", was released on 1 October.
The band went on hiatus in early 2013, with Simpson concentrating on his new project, Fightstar, and Judd going on to compete in and win the 2013 series of Strictly Come Dancing. Poynter subsequently joined McFly as their bassist. In November 2014, it was revealed that Blossoms would be reformed for a one-off show at Stockport's Dot to Dot Festival on 23 May 2015. The band's fourth studio album, Cool Like You, was released on 27 April 2018 and entered the UK Albums Chart at number two.
The band made global headlines in April 2021 when it was revealed that they would headline a one-day "trial" festival at Sefton Park on May 2, that same year. Following the global COVID-19 outbreak, the festival was famous for being the first big festival in the UK for 14 months without social withdrawal or face masks.
