After a life spent singing, Michel Louvain announced he passed away on April 14, 2021. Jolle Lanctôt, Suzie Villeneuve, Bryan Audet, and Matthieu Lévesque are together on stage in this play created in the artist's likeness to honor his exceptional professional career and repertoire. They evoke his illustrious career, from his early years to his peak glory at the top of the charts and in the largest halls of Quebec where he resounded for his devoted audience the songs Buenas Noches Me Amor, Lison, Linda, Sylvie, Louise, A Certain Smile, and, of course, The Lady in Blue. They are supported by occasionally unpublished archives. Additionally, they display artworks that depict the singer's love for the Trenets, Aznavour, and other musicians, as well as the South's music and sun. Michel Louvain, CM was a Canadian singer most popular in the 1960s and 1970s. He is known for his warm voice and heartfelt delivery of songs. He has been dubbed "The Sinatra of Canada". Louvain was born in Maynard, Massachusetts, United States. Louvain's father, Joseph Louis Bertrand Lussier, was a French-Canadian immigrant who worked as a barber and his mother, Yvonne (née Brouillard), was a homemaker. He was the third of 11 children in the family. The family moved to Canada when he was four years old and settled in Saint-Hubert, a suburb of Montreal. As a young man, Louvain worked as a messenger for Bell Canada and sang in church choirs. He began his singing career in earnest in the early 1950s, performing in clubs and concert venues in Montreal. In 1957, he released his first single, "J'attendrai", which was a hit in Quebec. When he was 20 years old, Louvain started working as a master of ceremonies at a hotel in Laval. Later, in the 1960s, he was signed to Apex Records. The song "Buenas Noches Mi Amor" was his debut smash. Louvain recorded numerous songs during the following 20 years, including the popular tunes "La Dame en bleu" and "Je déclare l'amour au monde entier." In Belgium, his French records were offered internationally. On November 29, 1965, his single "C'est Un Secret" peaked at #14 in the Canadian RPM Magazine Top 40. A series of variety programmes on CFTM-TV (Montreal) and Radio-Canada TV were hosted by Louvain. Most of the young women who attended his shows were fans. He began by giving performances in nightclubs before moving on to amusement theaters as his fan base developed. He produced lavish music-hall productions in the 1980s with female dancers and scenery at the Place des Arts and elsewhere in Quebec, such as Autour du monde in 1984.
