State Champs is an American pop-punk band from Albany, New York, formed in 2010. The band consists of Derek Discanio (vocals), Tyler Szalkowski (guitar/vocals), Ryan Scott Graham (bass/vocals), and Evan Ambrosio (drums). Since their formation, they have released three EPs and four full-length State Champs albums. Their debut EP, Overslept, was released in 2011 and featured the single "Elevated". In 2013, they released their second EP, entitled The Finer Things, which included the hit single "Secrets". The band's first full-length album, Around the World and Back, was released in 2015 and debuted at number 2 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. It was followed by a tour with All Time Low and Sleeping With Sirens. The album included the singles "Breaking Ground" and "All You Are Is History," which both received airplay on alternative radio stations across the US. In 2017, State Champs released their second full-length album titled Living Proof," which debuted at number 4 on Billboard's Top Rock Albums chart. It featured the singles "Dead and Gone" and "Crystal Ball," which both reached number 1 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart. They also embarked on State Champs tours with Neck Deep and Waterparks to promote the album. In 2020, State Champs released their third full-length album titled Unplugged, which featured acoustic versions of some of their most popular songs as well as two new tracks. They also embarked on an acoustic tour to promote the album, which included stops in North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan. State Champs have won numerous awards throughout their career, including Best Underground Band at the 2016 Alternative Press Music Awards as well as Song of the Year for "Dead And Gone" at the 2018 APMAs. They have also been nominated for several other awards, including Best Pop Punk Band at the Kerrang! Awards in 2017 and Best Live Band at the APMAs in 2019.
