  • Sparks, the iconic American pop and rock duo formed by brothers Ron and Russell Mael in Los Angeles, has been entertaining audiences for over 50 years. The Maels’ unique blend of art-rock, new wave, and synth-pop has earned them a loyal fan base around the world. The band began their career in 1971 with the release of their self-titled album. This debut was quickly followed up by a string of successful albums including A Woofer In Tweeter’s Clothing (1972), Kimono My House (1974), Propaganda (1975), Big Beat (1976), and Indiscreet (1977). Sparks achieved international success with their hit singles “This Town Ain’t Big Enough For Both Of Us”, “Amateur Hour”, “Never Turn Your Back On Mother Earth” and “Cool Places”. The band continued to evolve musically throughout the 1980s with albums such as Angst In My Pants (1982), In Outer Space (1983), and Pulling Rabbits Out Of A Hat (1984). They also had several successful tours during this period. In 1989, Sparks released Interior Design which marked a return to their signature sound. The following year they released Gratuitous Sax & Senseless Violins which featured some of their most memorable songs such as “When Do I Get To Sing ‘My Way'” and “When I Kiss You (I Hear Charlie Parker Playing)". In 1992 Sparks released Hippopotamus which was another critically acclaimed album that spawned the hit single "When Do I Get To Sing 'My Way'". The album also contained two cover versions of classic songs: "The Number One Song In Heaven" originally performed by Donna Summer and "Beat The Clock" originally performed by Sparks themselves in 1979. After a long hiatus from recording new material Sparks returned in 2002 with Lil' Beethoven which was met with critical acclaim from fans and critics alike. In 2021 Sparks released A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip to further critical acclaim. They are now gearing up for an exciting 2023 tour that will take them all across Europe! Fans can expect to hear classic hits such as “This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us," "Amateur Hour," "Never Turn Your Back On Mother Earth," "Cool Places," "When Do I Get To Sing 'My Way'," and many more!
