About Kim Wilde

Kim Wilde, born Kim Smith, is an English pop singer, DJ, and television presenter. She went to St Albans College of Art and Design and studied a foundation course. She first saw success in 1981 with her debut single "Kids in America", which reached number two in the UK. In 1983, she had a US number-one hit with "Cambodia". Her debut album, Kim Wilde, was released in 1981 and went on to sell over two million copies worldwide. In 1996, Wilde returned with the album Now & Forever. The first single from the album, "Loved", was a minor hit in the UK but the second single, "Tell Me Why", became another UK top 20 hits. The album also saw Wilde venture into electronic dance music with the club hit "Breakin' Away", which peaked at number eight in the UK. Her debut album, Kim Wilde, was released in 1981 and reached number four in the UK. It was followed by 1982's Select, which reached number two in the UK. Wilde's other albums featuring hit singles include 1984's Teases & Dares, 1986's Another Step, 1988's Close (where she had a tour around Europe in support of Michael Jackson, who was then promoting his Bad album. A quickly shot to fame after becoming the opening act for David Bowie on his European tour.), 1990's Love Moves, 1991's Love Is Holy and 1995's Now & Forever. She has also released numerous singles, including "Kids in America", "Cambodia", "You Keep Me Hangin' On" and "Loved". In 1999, she released the album Perfect Girl, her first album of new material in six years. The lead single from the album, "Losing You", was another UK top 20 hit. The album's second single, "Yesterdays News", was a minor hit in the UK but a club hit in Germany. She has released eight studio albums, one live album, five compilation albums, and 31 singles. She has sold over 10 million records, a worldwide success. She has been awarded five Brit Award nominations, two Grammy Award nominations, and an Ivor Novello Award. In 2004, she was given a retrospective exhibition at the Royal Festival Hall in London. In 2006, she was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She also went on tour with other popular 80s artists, like Paul Young and Howard Jones. In 2010, she was inducted into the Hit Parade Hall of Fame. The singer-songwriter has released the albums “Come Out and Play” in 2010, “Snapshots” in 2011, and the Christmas-themed “Wilde Winter Songbook” in 2013.
