Winger is an American rock band that was formed in New York City in 1986. The band's original lineup consisted of singer/keyboardist Kip Winger, guitarist Reb Beach, bassist Rod Morgenstein and drummer Paul Taylor. The group's first album, Winger, was released in 1988 and reached No. 16 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album was followed by 1990's In the Heart of the Young, which peaked at No. 10 on the same chart. Both albums achieved platinum status and produced several hit singles, including " Seventeen ," "Headed for a Heartbreak" and " Miles Away ." The band's third album, Pull, was released in 1993 and failed to match the commercial success of its predecessors. Following the album's release, Beach left the band to join Whitesnake and was replaced by John Roth .
The band released its fourth album, IV, in 2006, with original members Winger, Beach and Morgenstein joined by new guitarist Cenk Eroglu . The album was a critical and commercial disappointment, however, and the band has not released any new material since. Despite their commercial struggles in recent years, Winger continues to tour regularly and still enjoys a large and loyal fanbase.
