Tarja Turunen is a Finnish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has achieved international success in the music industry. Tarja began her career as the lead vocalist of the symphonic metal band Nightwish, with whom she released six full-length albums, two live albums, two EPs, and one compilation album. Her powerful operatic vocals and dynamic stage presence made her an instant fan favorite. After leaving Nightwish in 2005, Tarja embarked on a solo career that allowed her to explore different musical styles. She has since released seven studio albums, four live albums, one EP, and one DVD/Blu-ray. Her latest release was the critically acclaimed The Shadow Self (2016). Tarja's music has earned her multiple awards throughout her career including three Emma Awards (Finnish Music Awards), three Metal Female Voice Awards, and a Rockbitch Award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards.
