On October 28, 2008, Sevendust released their eighth studio album Chapter VII: Hope & Sorrow. The album debuted at No. 19 on the Billboard 200 and sold 33,400 copies in its first week of release. It is the band's second consecutive album to debut in the top 20. The first single "Prodigal Son" was released on September 30, 2008. On October 13, 2009, it was announced that Sevendust was working on a new album, to be released in early 2010. On February 23, 2010, it was announced that the new album would be titled Black Out the Sun. The album was released on March 26, 2013, and sold 28,400 copies in its first week to debut at No. 12 on the Billboard 200 chart. It was their highest-charting album since 1999's Home.
