In 2014, the American heavy metal tribute group Mac Sabbath was founded in Los Angeles, California. The band is fronted by "Ronald Osbourne", a parody of Ozzy Osbourne, and their songs are parody re-writes of classic Black Sabbath songs with lyrics changed to be about fast food.
The heavy metal blogs Loudwire and Metal Injection first made mention to Mac Sabbath and a video of them performing their "Iron Man" parody "Frying Pan" in late 2014. The former applauded the "hilarity" of the band's presentation, praising the "coked-out clown" and the "skullet-sporting Grimace." The latter, while not as positive in its review, did concede that the band's "Frying Pan" was "pretty funny."
Mac Sabbath's first public performance was at a Fourth of July block party in Hollywood in 2014. The band has continued to perform sporadically throughout Los Angeles. In 2015, they embarked on their first tour, which took them to the Midwest and East Coast of the United States. The band has also performed in England, Scotland, Germany, and Australia.
The "Rock-Sham-Shake Tour," which included 26 gigs in 13 states in March and April 2016, was a full-scale tour of the Eastern United States announced by Mac Sabbath in February 2016. With their "Clown Power" tour, which consisted of twenty-one dates across seventeen states and was supported by Clownvis Presley, an Elvis Presley lookalike dressed as a clown, the band made a return to the East Coast as well as numerous Midwestern and Northwestern states in August and September.
It was revealed in December 2017 that the metal band Galactic Empire and Mac Sabbath would headline the "I Got a Bad Feeling About This Tour" in February and March 2018.
