Crown the Empire is an American metalcore band that was formed in 2010. The band hails from Dallas, Texas. The group's debut album, The Fallout, was released on October 30, 2012. The band has seen success with their sophomore album, Somerset, which was released on May 13, 2014. The album debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Crown the Empire was formed in early 2010, when Brandon and Austin decided to start jamming together while attending Colleyville Heritage High School. The two had known each other for a few years and had been in a couple of bands together prior to Crown the Empire. They were later joined by Brent, David, and Andrew, who all attended Grapevine High School. The band began playing shows around the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
In 2011, the band released their first EP, Limitless. The EP was self-released and is no longer available for purchase.
In 2012, the band signed with Rise Records and began working on their debut album, The Fallout. The album was released on October 30, 2012.
Crown the Empire's sophomore album, Somerset, was released on May 13, 2014 via Rise Records. The album debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200, selling over 32,000 copies in its first week.
The band's third album, Retrograde, was released on July 22, 2016.
In January 2018, it was announced that Brent Taddie had left the band and Andrew Velasquez would be taking his place.
On March 1, 2019, the band released their fourth album, Sudden Death in Tokyo. The album was self-released on the band's own label, Make America Hate Again.
Crown the Empire has toured with a variety of bands including Falling in Reverse, Pierce the Veil, Sleeping with Sirens, and Bring Me the Horizon. The band has also appeared at a number of festivals including Warped Tour, Rock on the Range, and Download Festival.
