Chimaira is an American heavy metal band from Cleveland, Ohio that has been active since 1998. The group was a part of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal scene and has released seven studio albums over the years. Their debut album, This Present Darkness, was released in 2000 and featured the singles "Pure Hatred" and "Dead Inside". This album was followed by Pass Out of Existence in 2002, which featured the single "Power Trip". The Chimaira band's third album, The Impossibility of Reason, was released in 2003 and included their most successful single to date, "Nothing Remains". In 2005 they released their fourth album Chimaira which featured the singles "Salvation" and "The Dehumanizing Process". They then went on to release Resurrection in 2007, The Infection in 2009, The Age of Hell in 2011, and Crown of Phantoms in 2013. Throughout their career, Chimaira has won numerous awards including Best Underground Band at the 2004 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards.
They have also been nominated for several other awards such as Best Live Band at the 2006 Kerrang! Awards and Best International Band at the 2006 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. In 2023, Chimaira will be celebrating its 20th anniversary with a series of special events including limited edition merch pre-orders that end on June 5th. They are also planning a tour to commemorate this milestone event. Fans can look forward to hearing some of their classic songs as well as some new material from their upcoming releases.
