Botch is an American mathcore band formed in 1993 in Tacoma, Washington. The band was composed of vocalist Dave Verellen, guitarists Brian Cook and Dave Knudson, bassist Tim Latona and drummer Bruce Reeves. Botch was one of the most influential bands in the mathcore genre, blending elements of hardcore punk, metalcore, and noise rock to create a unique sound. Their music has been described as "chaotic yet precise" and "unrestrained aggression". The band released their debut album American Nervoso in 1998 to critical acclaim. The album featured songs such as "To Our Friends In The Great White North", "Saint Matthew Returns To The Womb" and "John Woo". It was praised for its raw energy and intensity, as well as its complex song structures. Botch followed up with We Are the Romans in 1999, which further solidified their reputation as a pioneering force in the mathcore genre. Tracks like "Man The Ramparts" and "Transitions From Persona To Object" are considered classics of the genre. In 2000, Botch released their final album An Anthology Of Dead Ends. This record saw the band take a more experimental direction, incorporating elements of jazz and post-rock into their sound. It also featured some of their most memorable songs such as "Cody's Theme", "Frequency Ass Bandit" and "Mondrian Was A Liar". After this release, Botch went on hiatus until 2007 when they reunited for a handful of shows before disbanding again shortly afterward. Botch announced that they will be reuniting for a 2023 tour with stops across North America and Europe! Fans can expect to hear classic tracks from all three albums along with new material that hasn't been heard before! This is sure to be an unforgettable experience for fans who have been waiting for years to see them live again! Botch have also been nominated for multiple awards throughout their career including Best Metal Performance at the Grammy Awards for their track “John Woo” from American Nervoso.
