Yuridia Francisca Gaxiola Flores, more commonly known as just Yuridia, is a Mexican singer who originally gained fame from coming in second place on the fourth season of the reality show La Academia. In 2005, she released her debut album called "La Voz de un Ángel", which means "the voice of an angel" in Spanish. The album was extremely popular and successful, becoming the second best-selling album in 2006 and one of Mexico's fastest-selling albums of all time. It has been certified Diamond since its release. After a few weeks of releasing her second album, Habla El Corazón, in Mexico, it was certified Platinum. Her third studio effort, Entre Mariposas (Between Butterflies), debuted in late 2007 and was certified gold after selling more than 50,000 copies within the first week of release. It reached the number one position on the top-selling charts after only a week of being released.
"Entre Mariposas" is Yuridia's most personal album to date, with the singer co-writing eight of the eleven tracks. On May 4, 2009, Yuridia released her fourth studio album, entitled Irremediable. The first single from this album is "Me Olvide de Vivir" (I Forgot to Live). The album quickly reached Gold status. In 2012, Yuridia released Primera Fila: Yuridia, which was recorded live and features stripped-down versions of her most popular songs. It debuted at number one on the Mexican Albums Chart and has been certified 3x Platinum in Mexico. In 2016, Yuridia released 6, her sixth studio album. The first single from the album is "Me Equivoqué" (I Was Wrong). Yuridia has sold over 5 million albums in Mexico and is one of the country's best-selling artists of all time. She has won numerous awards, including two Latin Grammy Awards and four Premios Lo Nuestro awards.
