Humberto "Tito" Nieves is a famous Puerto Rican musician who was one of the most successful salsa singers in the 1980s and early 1990s. Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, on December 4, 1958, Nieves began his musical career as a member of the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo. After leaving Menudo, he pursued a solo career and released his debut album, Tito Nieves, in 1987. The album was a huge success, spawning the hit singles "El Amor Más Bonito" and "Yo Quiero Bailar." Nieves' follow-up album, En la Casa de Tito Nieves (1989), was even more successful, with the singles "I Like It Like That" and "Casi Te Envidio" becoming radio staples. In the 1990s, Nieves continued to enjoy success with the release of several more albums, including Fabricando Fantasías (1991), Irresistible (1992), and Dicen Que Soy (1994). He also appeared in the film Mambo Kings (1992) and released a greatest hits album, Mis Mejores Canciones, in 1995. Nieves' popularity began to wane in the late 1990s, but he made a comeback in 2006 with the release of the album Para Siempre. He has since released several more albums, including En Mi Vida (2009), Alegría y Felicidad (2011), and Pensamientos (2013). Nieves is a much-beloved figure in the Puerto Rican community, and his music is enjoyed by salsa fans around the world. He has won several prestigious awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Tropical Latin Album (for En la Casa de Tito Nieves) and a Latin Grammy Award for Best Salsa Album (for Pensamientos).
