Clifford Joseph Harris Jr. better known by the stage names T.I. and Tip is an American rapper, record executive, and actor. Harris signed his first major-label record deal in 1999, with Arista Records subsidiary LaFace Records. In 2001, Harris formed the Southern hip hop group P$C, alongside his longtime friends and fellow Atlanta-based rappers Big Kuntry King, Mac Boney and C-Rod. Upon being released from Arista, Harris signed to Atlantic Records and subsequently became the co-chief executive officer (CEO) of his own label imprint, Grand Hustle Records, which he launched in 2003. Harris is also perhaps best known as one of the artists who popularized the trap music genre, along with Atlanta-based producers DJ Toomp, Lil Jon and Young Jeezy. As of May 2020, Harris has released eleven studio albums, with seven of them reaching the top five of the US Billboard 200 chart. Throughout his career, Harris has also released several highly successful singles, such as "Bring Em Out", "Whatever You Like", "Live Your Life" (featuring Rihanna), and "What You Know". His debut album, I'm Serious, was released on October 9, 2001 through Arista Records. Harris's first major-label album, Trap Muzik, was released on August 19, 2003 through Atlantic Records. It peaked at number four on the US Billboard 200, and became Harris's first album to top the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Harris's second album, King, was released on March 28, 2006. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 522,000 copies in its first week and being certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). His third album, Paper Trail (2008), became his most successful album to date; it debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and has sold over three million copies to date. Harris's fourth album, No Mercy (2010), was released on December 7, 2010. It debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 and sold 143,000 copies in its first week. In 2013, Harris began serving a yearlong prison sentence for violating probation; he was released on September 1, 2014. His fifth album, Paperwork (2014), was released on October 21, 2014. It debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and sold 102,000 copies in its first week. Harris's sixth album, Us or Else: Letter to the Law (2016), was released on December 9, 2016. It debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 and sold 36,000 copies in its first week. His seventh album, Dime Trap (2018), was released on October 5, 2018. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and received generally positive reviews from critics. Harris has also released several mixtapes, including his highly acclaimed There's a War Going On (2007) and the Trap God series (2012–16). He has also released several singles through Grand Hustle Records, including "Whatever You Like" and "Live Your Life", which both topped the US Billboard Hot 100. Harris has also appeared in films such as Takers (2010), Identity Thief (2013), and Ant-Man (2015). In 2020, he starred in and executive produced the Netflix documentary series Hip Hop Uncovered.
