About The Game

Jayceon Terrell Taylor better known by his stage name the Game or simply Game, is an American rapper. He is best known as a rapper in the West Coast hip-hop scene and for being one of Dr. Dre's signers under Aftermath Records. Born in Compton, CA, he released his first mixtape You Know What It Is Vol. 1 in 2002, shortly after joining Westside Connection When Game was recovering in the hospital after being shot twice in late 2001, he encouraged his brother to go out and buy all of the classic hip-hop albums. Through this, he discovered the golden age of hip-hop and found artists such as Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, KRS-One, Run DMC, and A Tribe Called Quest. "That's when I really found my love for music", he recalls. "That's when I realized how much of an artist Big Daddy Kane was, how lyrical Rakim was." After achieving success with his debut album The Documentary and its singles "How We Do" and "Hate It or Love It", Game began work on his second album, Doctors Advocate. The album's cover artwork featured a doctor's office and Game's name surrounded by ten prescriptions. The album was released on November 14, 2006, and debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling over 358,000 copies in its first week. It featured the top-twenty single "It's Okay (One Blood)" and produced two other singles: "Let's Ride" and "Wouldn't Get Far". Game's third album LAX was released on August 26, 2008. The album featured three singles: "LAX Files", "My Life" and "Dope Boys". On October 1, 2008, Interscope Records announced that Game had left Aftermath Entertainment to go on his own. In February 2011, it was announced that Game started working on his fourth studio album The R.E.D. Album. The first single from the album titled "Red Nation" featuring Lil Wayne, was released to iTunes on April 5, 2011. The album's second single, "Pot of Gold" featuring Chris Brown, was released to iTunes on June 24, 2011, as the fifth single. The album's third single "All That (Lady)" was released to radio stations on August 9, 2011, and to iTunes on August 16, 2011. The album was set for an October 25, 2011 release but it got pushed back to December 6, 2011, because of sample issues. Create a memory!
