Gerardo Torres, better known by his stage name Gera MX, is a Mexican rapper and songwriter. He is best known for his work with the Mexican hip hop group control Machete, as well as his solo career.
Gera MX began his musical career in the early 1990s as a member of the Mexican hip-hop group Control Machete. The group released their debut album, Uno, Dos, Ultraviolento in 1997, which was a major success in Mexico. The album's success led to a contract with Universal Music, and the group released their second album, Artilleria Pesada, Presenta: Control Machete in 1999.
In 2000, Gera MX embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album Ni Fu Ni Fa. The album was a commercial success, selling over 200,000 copies in Mexico. Gera MX's second album, El Mundo Del Revés, was released in 2002 and was another commercial success.
In 2006, Gera MX rejoined Control Machete and the group released their third album, Si Senor. The album was a critical and commercial success and helped to cement the group's reputation as one of the most popular hip-hop groups in Mexico.
Gera MX has released three solo albums: Ni Fu Ni Fa (2000), El Mundo Del Revés (2002), and Pura Vida (2010). His fourth solo album, El Camino Del Exito, is set to be released in 2013.
Gera MX is one of the most popular and successful rappers in Mexico. He is known for his technical skill and clever lyrics. Gera MX has won numerous awards, including a Latin Grammy Award for Best Urban Music Album in 2010.
In 2021, he and rappers Nanpa Básico and Charles Ans released the album “Los No Tan Tristes.” The album was a commercial success, selling over 100,000 copies in Mexico. Gera MX is currently working on his fifth solo album, which is set to be released in 2022.
