DJ Krush was born Hideaki Ishi in Tokyo in 1962. He started out as a hip-hop fan who was influenced by jazz and traditional Japanese music. He was one among the first to make atmospheric trip-hop with albums like Krush (1994) and Jaku (2004), which mixed scratching, sampling, and ambient noises. He worked with Mos Def and CL Smooth early on, which made him a global name in experimental hip-hop and electronic music, recognized for being creative and improvising live.
The release of Strictly Turntablized in 1994 was Krush's big break. It got him invites to international festivals including Sonar and the Montreux Jazz Festival. He worked with Fennesz and DJ Shadow, and several of his albums made it to the top of the charts in Japan and Europe. He was known for his excellent turntablism and complex soundscapes. He had an impact on many DJs and producers over the years, and his hallmark style is a mix of hip-hop beats and movie-like atmospheres.
DJ Krush is still on tour across the world, playing songs like "Kemuri" and "Song 2" live with immersive visuals and dramatic mixes. Fans may enjoy his unique mesmerizing sounds and engaging stage persona. You can now get your DJ Krush tickets on Yadara to see a trip-hop expert in action.
