On October 16, 2012, Big K.R.I.T. announced that he was quitting smoking cigarettes. In an interview with XXL, he stated: "I'm doing it for my health." K.R.I.T.'s third album, "4eva Is a Mighty Long Time", was released on October 27, 2017. The double album features 25 tracks and is almost two hours long. It includes guest appearances from Bun B, T.I., CeeLo Green, Offset, UGK, Jill Scott, and Sleepy Brown. The album debuted at number seven on the US Billboard 200. K.R.I.T.'s fourth album, "K.R.I.T. Iz Here", was released on July 12, 2019.

This 2024, Kelly Ingram Park will host the city's annual music and empowerment festival, which will feature a performance by the rapper who was born in Mississippi. As part of the festival's live music lineup that includes recording artists, creatives, and local and national performers, the performance will take place in the latter portion of the day.
