He soon joined Scorpions as their lead guitarist when he was just 17 years old. He recorded five albums with them before leaving in 1978. Schenker then joined UFO and recorded a further seven albums with them. He left UFO in 1993 but rejoined the band intermittently over the years. In 2016, he once again rejoined UFO for their last album A Conspiracy of Stars. Throughout his career, Schenker has released over 20 albums with various bands and as a solo artist.
