The Weight Band is an American rock band formed in 2013. It consists of Jim Weider (guitar), Michael Bram (drums, vocals), Brian Mitchell (keyboards, vocals), Albert Rogers (bass, vocals), and Marty Grebb (keyboards, saxophone, vocals). The band debuted in 2013 at Levon Helm's barn in Woodstock, NY with the goal of keeping the spirit and music alive that defined an era. The Weight Band has released two albums since their formation: World Gone Mad in 2015 and This Is Where We Are in 2018. Both albums have been well-received by critics and fans alike. Their debut album World Gone Mad was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Americana Album in 2016. The follow-up album This Is Where We Are featured original songs written by the members of The Weight Band as well as covers of classic songs from The Band such as "The Weight" and "Up on Cripple Creek". In addition to their studio work, The Weight Band has toured nationally for the past four years.
They have performed at venues such as Levon Helm Studios, Sellersville Theater, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and many more. In 2023, they will be performing at various locations across the US including New York City, Chicago, Nashville, and Los Angeles. The Weight Band is also known for their live performances which feature a mix of original material and covers from artists such as Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, and Neil Young. They often invite special guests to join them on stage including members of The Band themselves such as Garth Hudson or Levon Helm’s daughter Amy Helm.
