Punch Brothers is an American band consisting of Chris Thile, Gabe Witcher, Noam Pikelny, Chris Eldridge, and Paul Kowert. The band's 2009 album, Antifogmatic, was nominated for a Grammy Award. Their 2012 album, Who's Feeling Young Now?, won the Grammy for Best Folk Album. The group has released five albums as of 2015.
The members of Punch Brothers all met while attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. They played together in various ensembles, including the bluegrass band Hot Rize and the jazz-rock band Jack Quartet. In 2006, mandolinist Chris Thile formed Punch Brothers as an outlet for his more experimental compositional work. The band's self-titled debut album was released in 2008 to critical acclaim.
