The Kentucky Headhunters, an American country rock and Southern rock band, have been making music since 1968. Founded by brothers Richard and Fred Young, the original lineup consisted of Doug Phelps, Greg Martin, and Anthony Kenney. The group has released several albums over the years including Pickin' on Nashville (1989), Electric Barnyard (1992), and Songs from the Grass String Ranch (1995). Their debut album Pickin' on Nashville earned them a Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1990. In addition to their Grammy win, The Kentucky Headhunters have received numerous awards throughout their career. In 1991 they were inducted into the Grand Ole Opry and were awarded the Academy of Country Music's Top New Vocal Group award in 1989. They've also been nominated for two CMA Awards for Vocal Group of the Year in 1990 and 1991.
The Kentucky Headhunters have released nine studio albums over their career, including their latest effort Meet Me in Bluesland which was released in 2014. This album features guest appearances from blues legends such as Buddy Guy, Charlie Musselwhite, and Pinetop Perkins. It also includes covers of classic blues songs like "I'm Ready", "Rock Me Baby" and "Hoochie Coochie Man". The Kentucky Headhunters are currently preparing for their 2023 tour which will take them across North America to perform classic hits like "Dumas Walker", "Walk Softly On This Heart Of Mine" and "Oh Lonesome Me".
