The Judds were an American country music duo composed of lead vocalist Wynonna Judd and her mother, Naomi Judd. They are one of the most successful in country music history. The duo signed to RCA Records in 1983 and released their debut album, Wynonna. The album was certified 5× Platinum in the United States by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipments of five million copies. The Judds made their debut on the country scene in 1984, quickly becoming a sensation. In 1987, the duo released their second studio album, Dreamin' of You; however, it did not match the success of its predecessor, selling "only" three million copies. In 1991, the duo released their third studio album, Love Can Build a Bridge; it included the Top 10 hit singles "Give a Little Love", "She Is His Only Need", and the title track, which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart in June 1991. Tragically, Naomi's diagnosis of Hepatitis C in 1991 forced the disbandment of their duo. In 1992, Judd released her first solo album, Wynonna; it sold more than 3 million copies and would go on to become one of the most successful studio albums of her career. It was a successful music scene. The single, "No One Else on Earth", topped the Country charts and peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100; it is Judd's most successful solo single to date. In October 1991, Naomi retired from touring and the duo disbanded. Wynonna signed to MCA Records in 1995 and released her second solo album, Revelations. The album topped the Country albums chart and featured the singles "To Be Loved by You" and "A Bad Goodbye", which peaked at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, on the Country singles charts. In 1997, Wynonna was once again nominated for the CMA Award for Female Vocalist of the Year; however, she lost to Faith Hill. They reunited in 2000 to perform at the renowned Stagecoach Festival. She released her third solo album, What the World Needs Now Is Love, in 2003. The album peaked at No. 3 on the Country albums chart and featured the single "The Conversation", which peaked at No. 1 on the Country singles chart in May 2003. Wynonna has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. She is also a five-time Grammy Award winner, winning for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for her duet with country artist Travis Tritt on their cover of The Judds' hit "Let Me Tell You About Love" in 1992, as well as for her work on the soundtracks to the films Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) and Boys on the Side (1995). In June 1992, Wynonna and Naomi Judd were inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 1993, they became the first mother and daughter to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
