Steep Canyon Rangers is an American bluegrass band based in Asheville and Brevard, North Carolina. The band has released nine studio albums and three live albums and has won two Grammy Awards. The Steep Canyon Rangers were founded in 2000 by Woody Platt, Mike Ashworth, Charles R. Humphrey III, and Mike Guggino. The band has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards and has won two, for Best Bluegrass Album for their 2013 album Nobody Knows You and Best Folk Album for their 2016 album Radio.
The band has released nine studio albums, including their most recent, Out in the Open, in 2018. They have also released three live albums, Live at the Orange Peel (2007), Deep in the Shade (2009), and Live (2011). The Steep Canyon Rangers have toured with Steve Martin, performing as his backing band. They have also collaborated with other artists, including Dolly Parton, on her album Better Day (2011), and Jerry Douglas, on his album Traveler (2012).
