  • Lyle Pearce Lovett is an American singer, songwriter, actor, and record producer. Lovett has won four Grammy Awards, including Best Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Album. He was born in Houston, Texas, and attended Texas A&M University. Lovett's first record deal was with MCA Records in 1986, and his debut album, Lyle Lovett and Lyle Lovett Band was released in 1987. The album's title track, "She's No Lady", was a top ten hit on the Billboard Country charts. In 1991, Lovett released The Road to Ensenada, which included the song "Step Inside This House", co-written with Texas songwriter Robert Earl Keen. The album sold more than two million copies and helped Lovett garner his first Grammy Award, for Best Country Album. In 1994, Lovett released I Love Everybody, his most successful album to date. The album's first single, "That's Right (You're Not from Texas)", was a top ten hit on the country charts and won Lovett his second Grammy Award, for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. In 1996, Lovett released The Trouble with the Truth, which includes the singles "She's No Lady" and "Records Don't Lie". The album was nominated for two Grammy Awards, including Best Country Album. Not only was Lovett's talent beloved by people of all ages, but his 1996 duet with Randy Newman, You've Got a Friend in Me from the Toy Story soundtrack captured the hearts and imaginations of children everywhere. In 1998, Lovett released Step Inside This House, a tribute to Texas songwriter Townes Van Zandt. The album includes interpretations of Van Zandt's songs "White Freight Liner Blues" and "If I Needed You". In 2002, Lovett released My Baby Don't Tolerate, which includes the singles "This Old Porch" and "She's No Lady". The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Country Album. In 2006, Lyle Lovett's music It's Not Big It's Large, which includes the singles "Give Back My Heart" and "She's No Lady". The album was nominated for two Grammy Awards, including Best Country Album. In 2009, Lovett released Natural Forces, which includes the singles "She's No Lady" and "Permanent Marker". The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Americana Album. In 2013, Lovett released Release Me, which includes the singles "This Old Porch" and "Step Inside This House". The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Americana Album. In 2016, Lovett released Frauds, his first album of original material in eleven years. The album includes the singles "This Old Porch" and "She's No Lady". Lovett has appeared in several films and television shows, including The Opposite Sex and How to Get Away with Murder. He has also written and performed songs for the soundtracks of The Big Lebowski, The Firm, and Walk the Line.
