According to Joe Funk, bassist for the rising progressive bluegrass group Kitchen Dwellers, everything began as a series of jam sessions in the kitchen. After school, we used to jam out to perform covers, traditional music, and old-time songs for fun. Everything else just developed from there.
For Kitchen Dwellers, "everything else," as Funk so modestly puts it, has been nothing short of remarkable. In the nearly ten years that they have been together, the Montana-based four-piece has played for thousands at Red Rocks, shared bills with groups like Railroad Earth, The Infamous Stringdusters, and Twiddle, graced festival stages from Northwest String Summit to WinterWonderGrass, and transcended conventional genre boundaries, blending virtuosic bluegrass wizard.
The ensemble has fully matured with their stunning new album, "Muir Maid," flawlessly fusing the past, present, and future of string band music to produce their most daring and collaborative work to yet.
"Muir Maid," an album by Chris Pandolfi of The Infamous Stringdusters, is based on live performances that capture the electrifying intensity of the band's concerts and highlight their brilliant musicianship, impeccable harmonies, and evocative storytelling.
