About Jimmy Buffett

James William Buffett is an American singer-songwriter, musician, author, actor, and businessman. He is best known for his music, which often portrays an "island escapism" lifestyle. Some of his most popular songs include "Margaritaville" (1977), "Cheeseburger in Paradise" (1978), and "Come Monday" (1974). He has a devoted base of fans known as "Parrotheads". Buffett was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and spent much of his childhood in Mobile, Alabama. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. After graduation, he worked as a correspondent for Billboard magazine in Nashville, Tennessee. He then moved to Austin, Texas, where he wrote and played country music. In 1977, Buffett's song "Margaritaville" reached number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The single sold over a million copies and helped his album Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes reach number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Buffett has released more than thirty albums, most of which have been certified gold, platinum, or multiplatinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). He has sold over 100 million records worldwide. Buffett is also a successful businessman.

He owns several restaurants, hotels, and casinos, including the Margaritaville Cafe chain and the Margaritaville Beach Resort in Key West, Florida. He also owns the Flora-Bama Lounge and Package in Pensacola Beach, Florida. In 2004, the musician released the ever-popular album “License to Chill”. In 2019, Forbes estimated Buffett's net worth at $6 billion, making him one of the richest people in the world. This new style, which combined catchy, humorous novelty songs with harder-edged, reality-based ballads, quickly earned him a devoted fan base. Jimmy Buffett's most famous song to date is "Margaritaville," which ranked 234th on the Recording Industry Association of America's list of Songs of the Century. Furthermore, he is recognized for his continuous philanthropic efforts and participation with Parrot Heads in Paradise. This organization raises money every year to support various charities. His cover of Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" is an old favorite, but Buffett has recently taken to performing Zac Brown Band's "Free."
