Jessica Rose James Decker is an American country pop singer-songwriter, former reality television personality, and entrepreneur. At age 21, she won the hearts of America as a contestant on Season 11 of American Idol.
She has since released three albums, including her debut album,Wildflower, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country charts and was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Her second album,Somewhere in Between, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Country charts and was certified Gold by the RIAA. She recently released her third album,Tales from the Backroad, which debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Country and Top 200 charts.
As a former reality television personality, Decker has appeared on such shows as CMT's Can You Duet?, The Bachelor, and Celebrity Wife Swap. She has also made guest appearances on various talk shows and performed at the White House.
Decker was born in Kirkwood, Missouri, and raised in the small town of Holly Springs, North Carolina. She is the middle child of three sisters. Her father, Tim James, is a retired high school principal, and her mother, Rose James, is a stay-at-home mom.
Decker began singing when she was four years old and started taking piano lessons when she was eight. She started songwriting when she was thirteen.
Decker graduated from high school in 2006 and then attended the University of Missouri, where she majored in communications. While in college, she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
Decker is also an entrepreneur. She has her own line of clothing, jewelry, and home decor, called Rose James Decker. She also has a line of beauty products, called James Beauty, which she launched in collaboration with fellow country singer Miranda Lambert.
Decker is married to NFL player Eric Decker. They have two children together, a daughter named Vivianne and a son named Eric.
