Ian Noe was born in 1990 in Eastern Kentucky and spent his childhood listening to Appalachian music. He was influenced by country, folk, and storytelling music. He started writing music as a youth. The lyrics told colourful stories, and he accompanied them with an acoustic guitar and, on occasion, a banjo. His childhood in the Appalachian region has a significant impact on how he recounts stories. He tells true, hard-hitting stories about love, life, and adversity.

Noe released his debut album, Between the Country, in 2019. It had wonderful songs like "Letter to Madeline" and "Irene (Ravin' Bomb)" and was hailed for its Americana sound and lyrical narrative. He has performed at folk festivals, small theatres, and music halls all around the United States. Working with artists such as Jason Isbell and appearing on NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts allowed him to reach a larger audience and solidify his position in modern Americana and country music circles.

Ian Noe's live gigs often attract between 300 and 1,500 people, depending on the location. The stages are modest, allowing audiences to interact with the musicians up close. He sings iconic songs like "Letter to Madeline," "Caroline," and "River & the Road" with genuine passion, using an acoustic guitar and pauses for narration to immerse listeners in his story.
