Billy Bob Thornton is an acclaimed American actor, filmmaker, and musician who has been in the entertainment industry since the early 1980s. Born on August 4, 1955, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, he grew up in a small town with his parents and two brothers. He started his career as a drummer for various rock bands before becoming an actor in the mid-80s. After appearing in several television shows and movies, Billy Bob Thornton wrote and starred in the 1992 thriller One False Move which earned him critical acclaim. In 1996, he made his directorial debut with Sling Blade which was nominated for two Academy Awards – Best Adapted Screenplay (which he won) and Best Actor. Since then, Thornton has gone on to appear in numerous films such as Armageddon (1998), Monster’s Ball (2001), Bad Santa (2003), The Astronaut Farmer (2006), Jayne Mansfield’s Car (2012), and Goliath (2016). As of 2021, he is set to star in the upcoming drama film Our Brand Is Crisis alongside Sandra Bullock. In addition to acting, Billy Bob Thornton is also a talented musician. He released his first solo album Private Radio in 2001 which featured popular tracks such as “Angelina” and “Hollywood Down”.
In 2004, he released his second album The Edge of the World which was followed by Hobo (2007). His most recent album entitled Beautiful Door was released in 2020 and includes songs such as “Cocaine Cowboy” and “The Devil’s Right Hand Man”.
