Zakir Hussain is an Indian tabla virtuoso, composer, and music producer. He has been described as one of the greatest tabla players of all time. His career began when he was just nine years old, performing with his father Ustad Alla Rakha Khan. By the age of twelve, he had already won the All India Radio Music Competition. He has since gone on to collaborate with some of the biggest names in music, including John McLaughlin and Mickey Hart of The Grateful Dead.
