Marie-Annick Lépine, a violinist with classical training and a member of the group Les Cowboys Fringants, was born in Repentigny on November 5th, 19781. She is the daughter of Louise Lépine, a classical singer, and Jacques Boulanger, a country music fan.
Lépine grew up in a musical environment, learning to play the violin at age four1. She took an interest in country music after hearing Shania Twain's The Woman in Me album at age eleven, and began attending country music festivals with her father1. She began writing songs at age thirteen1, and released her first album, Un jour sans lendemain, in 2001.
Lépine joined Les Cowboys Fringants in 2002, and has been a member of the group ever since1. She has appeared on all of the group's albums, and has co-written several of their songs, including "Dans les rues de Repentigny" and "Octobre".
Lépine has also released two solo albums, Dérailleur (2006) and Tous les chemins (2009). In addition to her work with Les Cowboys Fringants, she has also toured with the group Les Hay Babies and collaborated with several other artists, including Patrick Watson, Louis-Jean Cormier, and Julie Doiron.
