John Wilson is a British conductor, arranger, and musicologist who has been making waves in the classical music world for over two decades. He is best known for his work with orchestras and operas as well as big band jazz. His impressive career began in the early 2000s when he was appointed assistant conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then, John has worked with some of the most iconic orchestras around the world including The London Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and The New York Philharmonic. Throughout his career, John has received numerous awards including an honorary doctorate from the University of Liverpool and a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in 2017. He was also nominated for a Grammy Award in 2019 for Best Arrangement Instrumental or A Cappella for his arrangement of “Them There Eyes” performed by Renée Fleming and Gregory Porter. John is also a prolific composer having written works such as “The Dreamers” which premiered at The Proms in 2013 and “The Hurlers” which was commissioned by Aldeburgh Music Festival in 2018. In addition to these works, he has composed for film and television scores including BBC's “The Hollow Crown” and ITV's “Victoria & Albert: The Wedding”. Last 2021 John embarked on an ambitious tour across Europe with his orchestra – The John Wilson Orchestra – performing a variety of popular songs from musicals such as West Side Story, Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady and more!
