The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band / Kenny Wayne Shepherd is an American blues rock guitarist, singer, recording artist, and songwriter. He has released several studio blues albums and experienced significant commercial success. Shepherd was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on June 27, 1969. When he was 16, his recording career started. He began playing guitar at the age of seven after being inspired by Stevie Ray Vaughan. Shepherd's mother, Carolyn, purchased his first guitar from a pawn shop. When he was eight years old, he started taking guitar lessons from Mike Farriss. Shepherd's musical influences include Albert King, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and B.B. King. He often incorporates elements of blues rock into his style. In 1987, Shepherd released his debut studio album, Ledbetter Heights. 

The album featured the single "Blue on Black", which peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. In 1999, KWS band released his fourth studio album, Live in Chicago. The album was recorded Kenny Wayne Shepherd live at the House of Blues in Chicago, Illinois. Shepherd has won multiple awards, including two Grammy Awards and six blues music awards. In 2012, he was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. In 2013, Shepherd, along with Stephen Stills (Crosby, Stills & Nash) and Barry Goldberg (Electric Flag), formed The Rides. The Rides released their debut album, Can't Get Enough, in 2013. Shepherd continues to tour and release new Kenny Wayne Shepherd music. His most recent album, Lay It on Down, was released in 2017. He has received two Billboard Music Awards and five Grammy nominations. He has continued to receive No. 1 in mainstream rock singles.
