Since 1937, when the bleachers underwent a renovation, the distances from home plate to all areas of the outfield have remained essentially unchanged. Markers had once been made of wooden numbers cut from plywood, painted white, and strategically placed where ivy was prohibited to sprout. For the 1938 World Series, baseball fans flocked to rooftop stands as they were allowed entry for a fee. From there, many of them chose to sit in lawn chairs with their snacks and drinks!
