Not only has the arena welcomed local graduations, but it also hosted one of WWE's most viewed and renowned professional wrestling events - the 2016 Royal Rumble pay-per-view. For nearly a decade, Richard DeVos (founder of Amway) and his son-in-law Bob Vander Weide, who both own the Orlando Magic franchisee, urged the City of Orlando to create and implement Downtown Master Plan 3 to construct a new arena. Nestled in the heart of Orlando, Amway Arena was constructed back in 1989 - before our current era of spectacularly advanced entertainment centers. The NBA is experiencing a rapid expansion of new venues, leaving the arena in question to become one of the oldest within the league.
