About Wisconsin Badgers Womens Volleyball

The Wisconsin Badgers women's volleyball is the volleyball team representing the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the NCAA Division I women's program. The Badgers compete in the Big Ten Conference. The current head coach is Kelly Sheffield, who was hired on January 17, 2011. He replaced Pete Waite, who resigned on November 29, 2010 after 12 seasons as head coach. Sheffield was previously the head coach of Ohio State from 2006 to 2010. The Badgers have made the NCAA tournament 28 times and reached the Final Four four times, most recently in 2000.

The Badgers' home court is the UW Field House, which opened in 1930 and has a capacity of 8,091. The team played its first game in the Field House on December 3, 1930, against Northwestern University. The Badgers have won 76% of their games played in the Field House, including a streak of 46 consecutive wins from 1995 to 1998.

In recent years, the Badgers have been one of the top teams in the Big Ten Conference. They finished first in the conference in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, and 2012. The Badgers also won the Big Ten Conference Tournament in 2003, 2004, 2007, 2009, 2010, and 2012.

The Badgers have had many successful players and coaches. Seven Badgers have been named AVCA First Team All-Americans: Katie Schweikert (2001), Stacey Clark (2002), Jocelyn Wack (2003), Taylor Reardon (2004), Kelli Bates (2007), Lauren Carlini (2013, 2014, 2015), and Dana Rettke (2017). Four Badgers have been named AVCA National Players of the Year: Schweikert (2001), Clark (2002), Reardon (2004), and Carlini (2015).

Sheffield has been named Big Ten Coach of the Year three times (2009, 2010, 2012). In 2009, he was also named AVCA National Coach of the Year.

The Badgers have appeared in the NCAA tournament 28 times and have reached the Final Four four times. The Badgers' first appearance in the NCAA tournament was in 1981. They reached the Final Four in 1995, 2000, and 2013.

The Badgers have won 23 Big Ten Conference championships, including 13 outright and 10 shared. The Badgers' first conference championship was in 1981. They have also won the Big Ten Conference Tournament 12 times, most recently in 2012.

In recent years, the Badgers have been one of the top ranked teams in the nation. They finished the 2012 season ranked No. 4 in the AVCA Coaches Poll and No. 5 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. In 2013, they finished the season ranked No. 2 in both polls. In 2014, they finished the season ranked No. 3 in both polls. In 2015, they finished the season ranked No. 4 in both polls. In 2016, they finished the season ranked No. 6 in both polls. In 2017, they finished the season ranked No. 8 in both polls.
